So here it is, your chance to request features for the next version of ATF.

I'll be leaving this topic open for 1 week (May 26, 2009)

Hope to hear from you soon,

Hi Atri,

I couldn't pass up the chance to help out so here are my suggestions.

What did ATF Cleaner actually delete? I think to some users, especially ones first trying out the program, may like to see some sort of break down of what ATF Cleaner just deleted. Currently, it just says something like, "Done cleaning!! ATF has freed 54.3MB". One suggestion would be to have a simple list like...

  • Windows Temp-10MB
  • All Users Temp-15MB
  • Cookies-5MB
  • Prefetch-20MB
  • Etc.

Or what if it just gave a log file of actual files deleted? Just a thought

Also, a program called revouninstaller has a feature for cleaning junk files, I think it may include some things ATF does not, I'm not really sure. Does ATF Cleaner do the same or even more than this feature? Here is the link to the Junk Files Cleaner portion of Revo. Here is the line that caught my eye when reading more about Revo...

Many of the Windows applications create junk files. Normally, such files are deleted by the application that had created them as soon as it did not need them. However they may remain permanently on your hard drive if there is an unexpected termination of the parent application, a system crash, etc.

Again, just a thought.

My last suggestion would be a more attractive UI. Spice it up a bit! tongue.gif Good luck in the newer version, great program as it is though. wink.gif

Edit: What about a tab to click on that gives a definition of what Windows Temp, Cookies, Prefetch, etc are? Some may not fully understand what they are or how they get there.

Thanks,

Hi Atri,

I think its great that you are coming up with a new version of ATF Cleaner.

I found a small glitch in the current version. The box for "All Users Temp" is cut off at the bottom by the box for "Cookies"

While I have never used ATF-Cleaner, having just learned it exists in the past couple days, I had some suggestions for what I would like in a temp files cleaner. Just for your "might be a nice idea" file.

I am on dial-up, and I enable a VERY large cache for web browsing in the hopes of speeding things up a bit.

I notice that temp files (at least in Firefox) seem to be stored by site (I'm guessing that's what those strangely named folders are for).

I would love to be able to empty my plugins, cache, cookies, and/or history by type and most especially by site. I would love to be able to empty by how old something is, too, as that function has never seemed to work correctly automatically.

See, I would leave Amazon alone, but delete all the stuff from a site I might have visited once out of curiosity.

This idea would also apply to what program created other types of temp files, too.

I think you get the idea. smile.gif

A few suggestions

add a cleaner for the index.dat files...they can get huge on systems that haven't ever deleted them 500MB +

add support for FF3 if its not already added

Maybe a backup option for stored passwords? I know I have accidently deleted all of my stored passwords in Opera and I was quite frustrated after it happened.

I would love to see the command line option for it.

A way to have an option to clear browser history.
